The Code Enforcement Officer is responsible for enforcing Township Ordinances.  He inspects construction sites, reviews plans, issues zoning permits and answers complaints.

Hours are Tuesday from 1 pm to 7pm and Friday morning from 8 am to noon.  Persons wishing to meet with Barry may call the Township Office in advance to schedule an appointment or stop by the office during those hours.

Zoning Permits are Required for the Following Types of Construction

1.  Detached Garages (Under 1000 Square Feet)
2.  Decks (Under 30" from Grade)
3.  Detached carports (200 Square Feet to 999 Square Feet)
4.  Shed or Accessory Buildings (200 Square Feet to 999 Square Feet)
5.  Greenhouses (220 Square Feet or Greater)
6.  Gazebos (200 Square Feet or Greater)
7.  Agricultural Buildings (200 Square Feet or Greater)
8.  Some Signs (Check With Township Office)

NOTE: 1.  Accessory Structures (Detached or Stand Alone) under 200 square feet do not require a zoning permit. They may be placed no closer than 10' to the side & rear property line and any other structures. 

NOTE:  2.  A birdseye view drawing of your property showing all structures and the proposed new construction, with distances to all property lines must be included with the zoning permit application.

Combined Building/Zoning Permits are Required for the Following Types of Construction

Resident Buildings, Additions, Decks (30" or Greater From Grade). Swimming Pools, In Ground Pools, Above Ground Pools, Inflatable Pools, Hot Tubs, Spas, Mobile Homes, Porches, Roofs over Existing Porches or Decks, Attached Garages, Attached Carports, Accessory Structures 1000 Feet or Greater, Sunrooms and Some Signs (Check with Township).

Note 1.  Checklist items must be provided along with permit application.  MDIA Inspection forms must be complete when permit application is submitted at the Township Office. (Click on the Applicable Checklist on the left and submit completed list with Application)

Demolitions, Structural Changes to Exterior Walls or Load Bearing Walls, Major Electrical Changes, Major Plumbing Changes, Major Mechanical Changes, Changes to the Size of Doors or Windows, Enclosing Porches for Living Space and Basement Remodeling.
