The New Sewickley Township Police Department encourages everyone to insure that their children are properly seated in their child car seats. Officer Tim Sovich is a child car seat technician, and is able to assist in teaching the proper installation and inspection of your child’s car seat. Appointments can be made with Officer Sovich by contacting the New Sewickley Township Police Department, 724-774-2473.  Information on Child Car Seat safety and any upcoming Car Seat Checks can be found at website: www.patechs.com

When requesting an appointment for a Child’s Car Seat Inspection, please have the following information available at the time of the inspection:

  1.  Owner’s manual for the car seat
  2. Owner’s manual for the vehicle
  3. Current Height/Weight of the Child
  4. Complete Seat.  To complete an inspection, the entire seat needs to be viewed, not just the detachable base.
  5. Please bring the child with you, so proper harness fit can be tested.  If an expecting family is making a request, proper techniques will be taught for harnessing an infant.

When requesting an inspection, please be aware that the entire inspection will usually take between 30-60 minutes.  During the inspection, proper techniques will be taught to install Child Car Seats, and the person making the request will install the seat at the end of the appointment to insure they are confident installing the seat, inspecting the seat, and checking for proper harness and fit.
