New Sewickley, Pennsylvania
New Sewickley Township is a part of depreciation lands that were set aside by Act of Assembly on March 12, 1783 to be awarded to those men who served in the Revolutionary War. Today, New Sewickley Township is a rural community consisting of 33.94 square miles with a population of approximately 7,076. The township is classified as a Second Class Township and is governed by a five member Board of Supervisors that is supported by an office staff of five. Also involved in the operation of the Township are a Code Enforcement Officer, Planning Commission, Municipal Authority, Zoning Hearing Board, Road Department and a Park/Recreation Board and the Township police force.

The Township has received notice that sometime in the spring or summer of 2012, Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania, Inc. is proposing the replacement of an existing six inch diameter gas distribution main located in New Sewickley Township and Cranberry Township. The construction will consit of the replacement of approximately 19,000 feet of existing six inch diameter gas distribution main with a new eight inch diameter distribution main. The new main will follow the existing alignment except in the Roachester Road and Powell Road area where the new main will follow the roadway alignment. The construction areas will be restored to original conditions. Roadways impacted by construction in New Sewickley Township will include Route 989, Steel School Road, Darlington Road, Rochester Road and Powell Road.
The New Sewickley Township Tax Office will close February 6, 2012 and reopen on Tuesday, February 14, 2012.
Winter hours are in effect until February 29th.
Winter Hours are Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm and Tuesday evenings from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Regular hours will begin again starting on March 1, 2012. Regular office hours are Tuesday through Friday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm and Tuesday evenings 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
