On the beautiful sunny afternoon of November 14, 2009 over 100 family members, friends, veterans and residents gatthered in Green Valley Park to memorialize Army Sgt. Joshua Rimer, 24, who was killed July 22 in Afghanistan, and Army Pvt. Dylan Patyas, 20 who was killed in Iraq in 2005. A granite bench, donated by Rome Monuments in Rochester was unveiled, that honored both soldiers by having their names engraved and the medals they earned, including the Bronze Start and Purple Hearts. Two Trees were donated by Frankin Nursery and planted beside the bench in memory of both soldiers.
